Industry Standard Licensing Terms: I register all images with the US copyright office (copyright.gov). Photographer owns and keeps copyright. You do not buy images or image files or copyright. You buy specific usage rights, which are non-exclusive and non-transferable. Any 3rd party wanting to use the images needs to purchase usage rights from the photographer. The licensing fees are not determined by the time it took to create the image, but by the kind of image usage. Compare it to music. A song can be licensed for private use for 99cents or for a TV commercial for $100k. Same with images. The same image, licensed for $10 for a vacation rental, can license for $10k for a billboard advertising.
